Donald Trump just won a state

You Heard Me

Donald Trump just won a state

Postby SLAYER666 » Tue Feb 09, 2016 9:03 pm

Wow.

I'm not interested in getting into a huge discussion. It's not productive.

But let's say he wins the nomination. He's insulted everyone. Cruz is a pussy. Bush is low energy. Rubio sweats too much. ETC.

So who would he take as VP? Would folks like Kasich possibly say "no, I don't think so"? Or would someone like Rubio jump on board and see what happens?

Who knows, but if he does there is a pretty good chance I won't vote for President for the first time since 1996 when I was so disgusted with Bob Dole's low energy campaign. And I probably will vote for far fewer Republicans in the future than in the past.

EXIT POLL: 66% of GOP primary voters support banning Muslims from entering the U.S.

https://twitter.com/meetthepress/status/697198159416537090

It is truly bizarre what has happened to the GOP - "establishment", grassroots, and everything in-between.

To answer the question, I don't think any of the established (not "establishment") GOP candidates would consider a VP run with Trump. I am including Cruz in that group.

And a democratic socialist won as well.
Virtually everything GOP critics have told us would follow from the policies put in place has not come to pass. You would think that this would occasion a few mea culpas, some rethinking, an admission of poor prognostication. But, alas, it continues.

Why? Shouldn't you vote for the best candidate available, whether that's Trump, Hillary or Bernie? I know that a write in has no chance, but assuming the libertarian party or other 3rd parties are on the Georgia ballot, you're at least casting a protest vote. I don't know that I get the point of not voting, especially for someone who seems to have a lot of interest in politics and policy. If you believe that the mainstream GOP is being hijacked by extremists and crazies, staying home is hardly the way to fix things, is it?

While I think Hillary will win the Dem nomination in the end, it's interesting that the chickens are coming home to roost for both parties with regard of politicians ignoring the people and pandering largely to corporate special interests. With congress' approval rating is running below 20%, it's pretty clear the majority of people want significant changes, even if they don't agree on what those changes should be.

On the right, the complete repudiation of the libertarian movement is kind of startling as is the degree to which anger matters more than any policy.

On the left, I saw the very apt comparison of Hillary being to Obama was Bush 1 was to Reagan - a safe candidate who would triangulate and try to protect the gains, instead of pushing harder to deliver changes that her predecessor failed to deliver. Something that would inevitably lead to the rise of a left side tea party minority wresting control from the party bosses. Also worth noting that Hillary and Bill have supported various policies that have had a devastating effect on minorities in the US. If Bernie can successfully get that story out, be may upset the apple cart on the left. http://www.thenation.com/article/hillar ... les-votes/

As I recall, this was an issue in '08. I can't remember if John Lewis switched his support from Hillary to Obama or if he was even allowed to do so.

If you had said a year ago that a Trump/Carson ticket was a possibility I would have thought, "Cool third party run. now the completely fed up have a place to go besides the Green Party".

Thanks. I'll hang this in my office to make me feel better when I vote for the Green Party candidate instead of Trump or Clinton.

He's certainly more qualified than Trump, Rubio or Cruz. His cuts to Planned Parenthood make him a no-go in my house.

The Planned Parenthood issue is a real problem for many who would support Republicans. The crazy thing about it is they prevent far more abortions than they actually perform.

Kasich has baggage, but far less that the other GOP contenders.

That's 3 for Trump, this time with 45% of the vote.

My God. This is really going to happen, isn't it?

Looks like it. I heard, but don't know the particulars, that he is leading in most of the Super Tuesday primaries and that he is ahead of Kasich in Ahia.

Can't wait to see his VP pick and surely someone is considering a third party run. It looks like the two major parties' candidates are going to have historically high negatives. Hillary's will look good by comparison.

This is a nice compilation of the 3/1 polls: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/march1GOP.html

Apparently Rubio is not running for Senate again. I didn't know that. He's got no shame so he's the VP pick if it's true that he's not staying in the Senate.

Here's 538 page on predicting the primaries. Trump isn't losing in many states. I only see Texas, and he isn't that far behind. http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/ele ... epublican/

Select any primary you like from the list.

I guess anything is possible these days, but I just don't see it. He has been wanting to be governor of FL for a long time, and I think that's the next move (in 2018). Running as Trump's VP would really be a career killer, IMO.

That's a good point. Also, I can't overstate enough how badly Hillary would wipe the floor with Rubio in a debate. I don't know why it took me so long to spot, but Rubio is the emptiest of suits.

In my opinion, the best GOP candidates were:
1) Christie-- he was too much of a liar
2) Paul-- he cared too much about black people
3) Pataki-- he just didn't have enough name recognition
4) Kasich-- too much of a pussy/not enough stage presence
5) Jeb!-- probably not enough stage presence

Naturally, the turd sandwiches are still bouncing around.
