Legend - B+ Great star turn for Tom Hardy playing both lead roles. A little bit of scene chewing playing the more unbalanced twin. A little disappointing. Kind of like a Brit/poor-man's Goodfellas or Casino and that's tough company to be compared to. I will probably watch again on the teevee because it took me a bit to get used to the accents.

I actually wished I had gone to see Room or Brooklyn.

Star Wars Episode VII - perfect 5/7.

I won't spoil it, but I will say that if you enjoyed the original movies, you'll really enjoy this one.
The folly of mistaking a paradox for a discovery, a metaphor for a proof, a torrent of verbiage for a spring of capital truths, and oneself for an oracle, is inborn in us.

Confirm X1000

Love me some Daisy Ridley.
Virtually everything GOP critics have told us would follow from the policies put in place has not come to pass. You would think that this would occasion a few mea culpas, some rethinking, an admission of poor prognostication. But, alas, it continues.

The Big Short - A
Really great take on the great financial meltdown. Great job by all four of the actors, especially Christian Bale. Highly, highly recommend.

Agreed - though Steve Carol holding his own with "serious actors" was impressive. I was once again struck by how poorly served Americans were by politicians and journalists pretending that the financial decisions that blew up the economy were complex and incomprehensible.

Right-my two favorite movies of this year were this and Spotlight. Stories about powerful people abusing powerless people with relative impunity.

Gritty and violent. A great snapshot of the War on Drugs, the mess at the Mexican-American border and some of the gray areas that both entail. All of the acting is good, but Benicio Del Toro is GREAT. If you like dark, violent, gritty and timely, get there! It's an example of why I make the effort to go to theaters.

Really? Honestly, I thought it was a C at best.

I loved it.

Sicario is one bad-ass movie - great acting and action - I will literally probably watch it again yesterday just to see how it unfolds the second time and I also have a hard time hearing some of the dialogue. maybe my hearing is going bad but Benicio del Toro's character talked so low, I couldn't always follow what he was saying. I also read that they have already commissioned a sequel with all of the same characters for a movie based on del Toro's character.
